Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Halal certification

Halal certification is a formal verification that a product, process, or facility complies with Islamic dietary laws (Shariah) and the Global Halal Certification Ltd Standard.

It confirms that:

  • Products are free from Haram (prohibited) ingredients such as pork, alcohol, blood, and non-Halal meat
  • Raw materials are sourced from approved suppliers
  • Halal and non-Halal materials are properly segregated
  • Cleaning and changeover procedures protect Halal integrity
  • Labelling and traceability systems are in place

Certification includes document review, on-site audits, corrective actions (if required), and ongoing surveillance.

The certification process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on:

  • Size and complexity of your operation
  • Readiness of your documentation
  • Number of products in scope
  • Time taken to close any non-conformities

Yes.

We certify a wide range of food and related products, including:

  • Processed foods
  • Bakery and confectionery
  • Dairy products
  • Beverages (non-alcoholic)
  • Ingredients, additives, and flavourings
  • Packaging materials (subject to Halal origin requirements)

All ingredients must be verified as Halal, and Mashbooh (doubtful) materials are not permitted.

If non-conformities are identified during audit:

  1. They are documented in the audit report
  2. You are given a defined timeframe to implement corrective actions
  3. Evidence is reviewed (or a follow-up visit conducted if necessary)
  4. Certification is granted once compliance is verified

Serious breaches affecting Halal integrity may result in suspension or refusal of certification.
